If you possess potentially relevant information, preserve the original before editing, annotating or posting it publicly. Keep original files, metadata, dates, source information and a simple chain-of-custody log.
Preserve first
Keep the original device or file when practical. Make a working copy for review. Record when and how the material was obtained. Do not alter screenshots to make them more persuasive, and do not publicly expose private victim information.
Report through official channels
The FBI maintains a national tip portal. Information relating to federal criminal matters can also be discussed with qualified counsel before submission. ESFB is not law enforcement and its general contact form should not be treated as an evidence vault.
